What's New in the 2018 Hyundai Sonata?

In the 2018 Sonata, a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be matched with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Also new is a standard seven-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the Blue Link system can be hooked up to Amazon Echo, allowing you to control some functionality in your Sonata from your home. Visit our Hyundai dealership near Monroe, Huntersville, Gastonia and Mooresville, NC today and learn more about what changes can be expected from the new 2018 Sonata.

2018 Hyundai Sonata Performance

Though it doesn't offer a V-6 that's popular in many midsized sedans, the three engine options for the new 2018 Sonata makes it a great choice for everyday drivers traveling around the Charlotte area. The base level 2.4-liter four-cylinder is pretty typical for a car of this size, producing 185 horsepower and earning up to 36 mpg on the highway. The Eco edition comes with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder, with a little less power but an improvement on fuel efficiency.

Finally, if you're willing to sacrifice some mpgs, the available 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder grants you 245 horsepower and a much more enjoyable driving experience. Those engine options give you more to choose from when you're considering the perfect midsized sedan, and you'll see why the Sonata is worth checking out when you visit our Hyundai dealership serving Matthews and Mooresville.

2018 Hyundai Sonata Technology and Safety

Beyond the excellent engine options available to you, the new 2018 Sonata is one of the better equipped sedans on the market. The new entry trim level, the SE, offers a comprehensive set of safety features that you'd typically have to spend more for. These include a rearview camera and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Additional safety systems like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cruise control stop-start capability, automatic high beams and rear parking sensors can all be added in higher trims or with special options packages.

Just as the base SE offers a few great safety systems, it also is generously packed with high-end tech features, including a touchscreen, Bluetooth and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Moving up will add more features including a color trip computer, satellite and HD radio, additional USB ports, hands-free trunk access, a power sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror and more.
